Following hot on the sold out MTO/ZX Spectrum Orchestra seven is this solo cross channel swim by Clive 2 of ZXSO. Very ltd this one, and due out on April 8th.
Mike In Mono is Mike Johnston of the very wonderful and much missed Plone. A man it seems with a penchant for analogue synths preferably bashed, bruised and held precariously together with gaffa tape and in need of much love, care and attention. Alongside his Plone and Mike In Mono exploits, he can also be seen taking up toy instrument duties for the occasional expanded Modified Toy Orchestra as well ZX Spectrum Orchestra (as Clive 2 - both ensembles also feature Brian {Clive 1} Duffy - getting terribly confusing this - who you may recall released that rather spiffing split single via Static / Warm Circuit a little while back 'Pocket Calculator' / 'TVOD').
Mike has piped Kid Baltan and Raymond Scott into the head board of his bunk bed. Leaked the theme tune to the 'The Great Egg Race' through his pillow, and when he needed to spend a penny all he would be aware of was Joe Meek weirdness emanating from the outside loo. His days are spent playing in local Kings Heath Top Trumps league, his speciality being footballer’s haircuts and granular scientists.
This then is a mix of electronic analogue pop fudge, with underwater vocoder vocals. Hooks designed to get you tapping your keypad or more likely a hyperactive horny little turn on for toasters and other keynote kitchen appliances. With the potential to appear on the next Spec savers advert.
It truly is as catchy as turkey cough. Think radio airplay. Think a casio Debussy no less.
Please take note, 7" only! So send in them vouchers. Every 3p goes to having him re-adjusted to perform at next years Brits, as someone coming on stage with a dead sheep, kilt and a machine gun (shit! its been done).
