After a particularly heavy prog based Christmas the Static Brothers decided to bundle up all their outstanding demos have them recycled and fired into the record cosmos star galaxy ‘Solar Vinyl Box’ high above.

The next day we pulled back the caravan curtains to reveal a sonic barge draped in Ivy and various horse brasses being steered through the ether by Beth Jeans Houghton as she sang so beautiful a song that birds and small animals and other things started to land round her and dance.

Beth obviously felt very uncomfortable so we had to call the council in and have them removed , but not before we begged Beth to let us release ‘Golden’ on Static Caravan. Beth then had to answer the usual questionnaire before being allowed to release her new single, below are her actual answers:

EYES LIKE JULIE FELIX COUPLED WITH JONI
MITCHELLS LARYNX
TUNNG TUNING
MARMALADE POPPERS
OLIVER POSTGATE
PLUS BREAD LOVE AND DREAMS
NON RUSTING PRECIOUS METALS
SHELLS BELLS AND SMELLS
POPEYE DOYLE

In the past year 18 year old Newcastle based singer/songwriter Beth Jeans Houghton has garnered a reputation as an antidote to the current crop of acoustic songstresses. With her alternative blend of experimental folk, Beth has been hailed by the NME as "a Joni Mitchell for the anti-folk generation".

With influences ranging from Frank Zappa, Vashti Bunyan, Fourtet and Love, Beth has cultivated a sound that is truly her own. Since her first performance in August 06 Beth has played alongside a diverse collection of artists such as Bon Iver, Adem, Imogen Heap, Fionn Regan, Jeffrey Lewis, Scott Matthews, Bowerbirds, Josephine Foster, Woodpigeon, White Magic, King Creosote, Alasdair Roberts, PG Six, Dead Meadow, Voice of the Seven Woods, Tom Brosseau, St Vincent, Euros Childs, Diane Cluck, Jack Savoretti and Stephen Fretwell amongst others. At last years Greenman Festival Devendra Banhart invited Beth to play one of her songs during his set on the main stage to an 8000 strong crowd describing her as, 'very lovely, a musical magician'.

Beth's limited edition self titled Debut EP is out now on Finders Keepers/Bird records, with another Single due out on Static Caravan early '09 to be produced by Adem. Beth is currently writing/recording, and is gigging regularly throughout the UK

Edition of 500 on 7” vinyl with ‘give us a break’ quiz card insert.
