Release date: July 26th 2010
Now officially the Static Caravan ambassadors of instrumental rock anthems, the Yellow Moon Band return to inebriate and marinade our tiny little minds in Flying V sexy juice. Fresh from soundtracking the Pretty Green launch, and with a Mojo cover mount credit already tucked under their vintage leather belt, the Yellow Moon Band have also graced the Noel Gallagher-approved ‘A Monstrous Psychedelic Bubble…’ set, lending molten jam ‘Entangled’ to the mind-altering Amorphous Androgynous-curated compilation, which is teeming with cosmic Ra vibrations.
The YMB offer the young, old and unborn Caravanettes a perfect 7" option. Your starter is 'Barehed': short and sweet, riff-bonkers-Sub-Pop-singles-club-contender and Harvest-friendly, bustin’ out all over your high fidelity speakers. Or you can hear it like I did…as a head-banging Southport Floral Hall rock night classic with Double Diamonds all round and Phil Easton on the decks.
On the flip is 'Reign' - considered, precise, definitely uplifting and like all great songwriting it feels familiar ...... in fact, I had to check it hadn't been played at Pink Pop in 1976. I'm sure there's a TAKRL side already out there. These tracks are dying to be played live - they scream out for bobbing heads and smiling punters, and they’re absolutely guaranteed to satisfy the old and new fans alike, around the corner smoking Lebanese with Mike Heron and drinking halves of Double Diamond with Andy Latimer.
No sooner had we blasted it out on the Van stereo parked down on the sands at Southport than all the folks in a mile-wide radius had the cheesecloth shirt button-poppin’, Bang and Olufsen speaker-blowin’, jazz-smokin’ sounds ringin’ in their ears.
Limited edition of 500 7” singles on translucent yellow wax and in a Ben Javens designed sleeve.
